Se prohíbe el cante

A while ago, not so far away, in hundreds of Andalusian taverns one could still read a poster saying "el cante is prohibited." The cause -a battle cry, Juan de Loxa would say-, a moan from the streets, the emotion that did not beat with the status quo or awaited any applause, it was just the flamenco simply occurring, a beat. From this, as a generator of creation, arose the idea of an atypical flamenco percussionist and an anxious bailaora to embark in a silenced singing concert with beats and dance. Simply because it touches us, it moves us.

A versatile artist, trained in classical and Spanish dance, Leonor Leal found in Flamenco the best vehicle to develop her creative concerns. In 2008, after working in companies such as Antonio El Pipa, Andrés Marín and the Flamenco Ballet of Andalusia, directed by Cristina Hoyos, Leal started singing choreographies and dancing his own proposals.
