UNRAVEL
A dancer inspired by the figure of the textile worker unravels his memory through a dance that compares modernization with dehumanization, the automatism of actions and unpredictable human behaviour.
Inspired on the figure of the textile worker and based on the testimonies of the workers in cotton mills, UNRAVEL questions the dichotomy between modernization and dehumanization, between the automatism of actions and human behaviour. This piece exposes human fragility, unravelling the collective memory of a generation, to whom we are the heirs, like the perfectly braided thread formed of a thousand cotton fibres.
Àngel Duran graduated in dance from the Salzburg Experimental Academy of dance (SEAD) and in art and design from the UAB. Besides his own work as a creator, he works as a dancer and physical actor in European companies like the Anton Lachky Company (Brussels) and Milla Koistinen (Berlin). He has worked with different choreographers and companies such as Stephan Herwig (Munich), DOT 504 (Prague) and Zsuzsa Rózsavölgyi (Budapest), among others. He also gives workshops for schools, groups and festivals in different European cities (Equilibrio Dinámico – Bari, Marameo – Berlin, SeeSaw – Milan, Tersicorea – Cagliari, Motion*s – Berlin and ÀREA – Barcelona).
The functions of the show at the MUHBA Oliva Artés are included in the special programme Filatures al MUHBA Oliva Artés, presenting 20-minute excerpts from three different proposals: Night-in-gale by Ana Borrosa, UNRAVEL by Àngel Duran and Máquinas Sagradas by Juan Carlos Lérida.
