It’s March again! Spring is back, the days are getting longer, and there’s a hint of warmth in the air, but most importantly, it’s time for Dansa Metropolitana.
The annual festival, one of the most wide-ranging dance events in Spain, will once again fill twelve cities in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area with movement, featuring many outstanding local and international artists performing in the different cities.
The main theme of this edition is urban dance, a genre that will spread its energy far and wide thanks to the Artèries project. Like the arteries in our bodies, this project carries dance from the heart to the limbs, connecting professional urban dance choreographers in Catalonia with local schools and, by extension, the general public.
Dansa Metropolitana’s goal with the project is to celebrate the inclusion of breakdancing as an Olympic sport, as well as the vitality and strength of urban dance, the perfect bridge between the street and the stage.
Dansa Metropolitana invites you to venues large and small, unconventional spaces, squares, streets, creation centres, cinemas and digital spaces to once again enjoy movement in all its forms because as Nietzsche once said: “We should consider every day lost on which we have not danced at least once.”
