L’elogi de la fissura

This show shows the transition between the present and change: an intermediate place in the search of a new version of oneself. A manifesto that is constructed from the darkness, from doubt, in the crack that does not show but suggests. The choreographer and dancer Lorena Nogal, a member of the prestigious company La Veronal, presents in this contemporary dance solo a celebration of self-acceptance and the beauty that arises from imperfection, from asymmetry and everything irregular. She expresses all this through movements of a weak, vulnerable and broken body that floats and moves in a scenario of transition between what one was and what one is becoming; between the past and the undeniable present.

Lorena Nogal, who trained as a dancer at the Institut del Teatre, has for more than 14 years been an active part of the artistic team of La Veronal as an assistant choreographer and dancer. In 2016 she won the prize for best female performer in the Catalan Critics’ Awards and two years later, with different companies, she set up the Hotel Col·lectiu Escènic project. Her latest creation Alegorías, el límite y sus mapas, a collaboration with the flamenco dancer Paula Comitre, was presented in February at the Théâtre Chaillot in Paris. She also gives courses on the Kova method, a language of movement that she has developed in recent years at La Veronal.
