This show uses dance, visual poetry and soundscape to transport the audience to a space where the limits between cultures break down.
LÓNG, alluding to both the English word “long” and the Chinese word “lóng”, meaning “dragon”, contains in and of itself many meanings, which vary depending on each person’s cultural context and background. In terms of concept and motion, the traditional figure of the dragon is at the heart of the piece, which is a reflection on the limit and borders we live with in a society immersed in a constant process of change and transformation. Kernel Dance Theatre uses dance, visual poetry and soundscape to present a show that transports the audience where the limits between cultures break down.
The contemporary dance company Kernel Dance Theatre, based in Barcelona and founded by Junyi Sun, Alma Steiner and Marina Miguel, develops a language all of its own by integrating contemporary dance, martial arts and theatre. The company’s work seeks to make the audience reflect and discover new perspectives on today’s world. Its projects have been featured at a range of centres and festivals such as La Pedrera, Sismògraf, Fira Tàrrega and FreiArt Festival.
