Alors on danse… ! / 7 danses grecques

The heirs to the legendary Béjart Ballet Lausanne present a mixed programme with two pieces. The first one, by Gil Roman, current artistic director of the Ballet, creates choreographies using a classical technique where the only purpose is the pure pleasure of dance. The second, based on the music of Mikis Theodorakis, re-creates the Greek dances of legendary choreographer Maurice Béjart, who sought their essence while avoiding the most folkloric elements.

The Béjart Ballet Lausanne (1987) is a leading company in the choreography world. Gil Roman has been directing the company since the death of the master Béjart himself in 2007, preserving its artistic excellence. Maurice Béjart turned dance on its head by opening it up to new audiences, making it more democratic, and freeing it from the image of being an elitist art form only for the few. Today, his legacy continues to fill great auditoriums such as the NHK Hall in Tokyo, the Kremlin State Palace in Moscow, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Athens and the Palais de Congrès in Paris.
