Movement and the desire to move are the undisputed protagonists of Ballarina. An exploration of the current stage in dancer, performer and choreographer Sònia Gómez’s artistic career, who makes us of all the wealth of experience and expertise acquired on stage during a 25-year artistic career. A performance of a 50-year-old body, imaginative and full of irony, one that goes beyond trends and represents a desire for joyful, possible and regenerative resistance, and has a clear message: dance can be a way of life and active participation in society as a whole.
Since 2004, Sònia Gómez has been working on projects with themes such as the construction of identity, and also using art to on uncovering certain social impositions, and the impositions of art through the body and performance art. The Catalan dancer and choreographer has performed in Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, France, Estonia, Portugal, the United States, Brazil, Mexico, the Netherlands, Colombia, Chile, China, the Czech Republic and Canada.
