After the international success of Paisajes para no colorear [Landscapes not to be coloured], the Chilean company presents a show that combines theatre and dance to address the forms of violence perpetrated by police forces in democratic societies.
In front of a giant painting of a ghost crying incessantly, we see an oppressive liminal space in which eight beings are trained to both exercise and suffer violence, as well as dance and praise images of virility. Bodies indoctrinated to instil fear and sow terror. This choreographic reflection from the Chilean company La Re-Sentida, inspired by the estallido social, the societal uprising that swept the streets of Santiago de Chile on 18 October 2019, explores the forms of violence that are rife in the police forces of democratic societies.
La Re-Sentida was founded in 2008, thanks to young artists on the Chilean scene seeking to establish poetics capable of embodying the pulses, visions and ideas of their generation. Their goal is to create by breaking away from the dominant artistic forms and discourses. The company is known for its brazen nature and its desire to desacralise taboos and use provocation to make the audience reflect. Their creations are politically charged and have a critical, reflective and constructive tone. Their shows have toured fifteen Chilean cities and over twenty-five countries, appearing at over eighty international venues, including some of the most prestigious in the world.
