MA
MA is choreographer and dancer Celia Rowlson-Hall’s debut as director. Using movement, the film deconstructs the role of the Virgin Mary with a modern take on pilgrimage. She comes across a world full of both terrifying and sublime characters on her way to the American Southwest, a journey that interweaves rituals and represents the body as sculpture. A cult film that reconsiders the definition of dance film and which won the Choreoscope Exceptional Contribution to Dance Cinema Prize.
