Five dancers dance and whirl around until they lose control, in a show that revisits the popular dance of Valencia from a contemporary point of view.
This production featuring five dancers presents a revision of the popular dance of Valencia from a contemporary point of view. Five women, upright and connected, dance facing forwards to create an ode to life and the earth and, like five pieces of mud, they participate in the artisanal rite of twisting their bodies around to be energy, power and emotion. An approach to folklore with which this singular company connects with its roots and which won the prize for ‘Best street show, at the 2021 AAEE IVC prizes.
Marea Danza is a Spanish flamenco and dance company, created in 2014, which sets out to bring these disciplines closer to contemporary creation. And it does so globally, giving the same importance to the dramaturgy, the dance, the set design and the image, through a modern language of performance. With these principles, besides RODA, it has premiered the shows Relieves, Amelia (2018 FETEN Prize) and Rebel·lió (Best show for boys and girls at the 2021 AAEE IVC prizes).
