In the context of a bar, a club or a popular verbena [party] anywhere in Latin America, the musicians play and the people drink and dance. The party coexists with tragedy, as life does with death. And despite the violence, the suffering and the inequalities, the celebration goes on, and the desire to dance is not lost. Meanwhile, fate intertwines personal stories and triggers events. But both the characters and incidents are only the backdrop, because dance is the protagonist.
The LaCerda company was created in 2015 with the intention of investigating the concept of ritual and the mysteries it entails through dance. The company works with the movement of the body to create disturbing universes related to the alien and unknown: from experience, sensation and viscerality, LaCerda's aim is to achieve the primal nature of dance, which precedes the word and the concept.
