Exhibition Carmen Amaya

The Institut del Teatre’s Museum of the Performing Arts, in collaboration with the Secondary and Artistic Education School / Professional Dance Conservatory (EESA-CPD), is paying tribute to Carmen Amaya on the centenary of her birth with the photography exhibition “Carmen Amaya. Essència, presència i mite”. A selection of personal and family photos, portraits, posters, and performance programmes will offer insight into the flamenco dancer’s more private side, while also revealing the keys to her genius.

Passion, technical and rhythmic virtuosity, and meticulous zapateados [footwork]... are the foundations of a school she created and that has inspired later generations.
