Women's things, political things, that celebrate, desire and rebel are the protagonists of a proposal interpreted by women who rescue a forgotten past.
They have recovered their Portuguese roots in the bodies of farm workers and the songs they sang while they were working. They have created a universe in which the voice guides the ritual, the machine is created with the instrument played and things oscillate between veneration, abandonment, transit, pleasure and struggle. All, with a choreographic vocabulary that transforms elements of vogue, house and breakdance.
Artist, architect, performer, dancer, teacher, choreographer, Piny was born in 1981 in a family formed between Angola and Portugal. In 1999 she began to study dances from the Middle East and North Africa; in 2003 she discovered hip-hop culture and since then urban and African dances have coexisted in her research. In 2023 she brought OU.kupa to the Teatre del Barrio Alto in Lisbon, a festival focused on promoting artistic creation for new choreographers within the framework of street and club dance.
