I AM (T)HERE
A musical and performance composition by Aurora Bauzà and Pere Jou in which the performer-singer is trapped between the direction of their voice and their movement, within an electronic musical atmosphere created live.
I AM (T)HERE is a piece that investigates the relationship between the body and the voice, exploring new ways of interaction between both that are far removed from the classical music tradition that imposes the servitude of the body to the voice. The piece embodies a body trapped between two dynamics, the voice and movement, which evolve in opposite directions, creating a body in tension, a subject in conflict with its identity.
Aurora Bauzà and Pere Jou are composers who work with the body. They are resident artists at the Graner-Centre de Creació de Dansa i Arts Vives i Can Gassol-Centre d'Arts Escèniques in Mataró in 2020 and a resident company of the TNT festival and of L’Estruch in Sabadell in 2021. The main goal of their research is the human voice and its relationship with the body and movement, and with the processes of the creation of meaning. Their ideas are inspired by artists like Alessandro Sciarroni, Maud de Pladec, Sol Picó and Sonia Gomez, with whom they have worked as composers and/or performers.
The company will host a discussion after the show.
