Bryce Dessner (founder of the North American rock band The National and the winner of two Grammy awards) was inspired by the great fires seen in Australia to compose the soundtrack of a moving, purely emotional reflection on the transitory nature of human existence and the juxtaposition of beauty and devastation.
The choreography was danced for the first time a few days after the pandemic broke out, reinforcing the idea of vulnerability (but also of hope) that it conveys.
The Sydney Dance Company, directed by the choreographer Rafael Bonachela from La Garriga, is one of the most internationally renowned dance companies in Australia. It is directed by a Catalan dancer and choreographer who was a member of the prestigious London dance company Rambert from 1992 to 2004. In 2008, he premièred his first extensive production, 360°, for the Sydney Dance Company, and six months later he was appointed artistic director of the company.
Held by Mercat de les Flors in cooperation with Dansa Metropolitana.
