Mucha Muchacha
The company from Madrid presents for us their first work, a piece of contemporary dance focusing on empowerment, determination, freedom and cooperation.
Mucha Muchacha is the first work by the Madrid-based company of the same name. It began with an investigation into the female artists of the Generation of 27 known as “Las Sinsombrero” and it has culminated in a contemporary dance project focusing on the concepts of empowerment, determination, voice, freedom and cooperation. They are accompanied in the direction by Celso Giménez of the Cía. La Tristura. The piece works on the movement generated by strength, effort, celebration or physical exhaustion, comparing the traditional movement of the body in Spanish dance with training in contemporary dance. A declaration of intent revolving around the movement of the community, femininity and ritual.
Mucha Muchacha is a young dance company that works from contemporaneity, in relation to the current context of the living arts, dialoguing and incorporating other forms of language that heighten contact with and closeness to the audience, always with a strong commitment to performance innovation.
The company will offer a post function colloquium.
