The Madrid-based company presents its first show, a contemporary dance piece focused on empowerment, determination, freedom and cooperation.
Mucha Muchacha is the first show from the company of the same name. It began with research into the female artists from the Generation of '27 known as Las Sinsombrero [The hatless women] and has culminated in a contemporary dance project focusing on the concepts of empowerment, determination, voice, freedom and cooperation. Celso Giménez, from the La Tristura Company, is the co-director of the piece, which is based on the movement that comes from strength, effort, celebration and physical exhaustion, confronting the traditional body movements of Spanish dance with training in contemporary dance. This mission statement revolving around the movement of community, femininity and ritual was a success in the latest edition of Dansa Metropolitana.
Mucha Muchacha is a dance company that works from a contemporary perspective in relation to the current situation of the performing arts, entering into dialogue with this contemporary approach and bringing in other forms of language that strengthen contact and proximity with the audience, always with a strong commitment to stage innovation.
Associated activity: Workshop/party with the company in the Sant Ildefons Auditorium, on Saturday, 25 March.
