Parafonías

When two sound waves with the same frequency are slightly out of phase with each other, the human ear perceives their friction as a third note. Parafonías proposes a sensory experience which distorts the intuitive relationships between movement and sound, creating a space that is both foreign and familiar, stirring our curiosity and empathy. What would happen if voice and gesture did not exactly go hand in hand in an act of communication? The intentions of the body or voice diverge, creating a realm where meaning is questioned and the imagination is transformed.

Blanca Tolsá, a graduate of the Professional Dance Conservatory of the Institut del Teatre, began her career as a dancer with IT Dansa. In 2021, she created her first piece, Ecoica, which she presented at the Dansa València and Dansa Metropolitana festivals. In 2024, she is an emerging artist at El Graner, where she has been developing her second original piece, Parafonías. Since 2016, she has worked as a performer with Lipi Hernández, Ariadna Montfort, Raquel Klein, Robert Zappalà, Albert Quesada, Magdalena Garzón, Jacob Gómez, Anna Macau, Constança Brcnic, Núria Guiu, Paloma Muñoz Siberia and Georgia Vardarou.
