POP + Danceoke

Compartir

POP is a millennial portrait presented as a dance monologue that explores stories of love and passion that lead to self-destruction. A woman striving to achieve everything, yet attaining nothing, invites us to reflect on survival, fragility, wannabes, obsessions, frustrations, and the reality of death. "Did you know that flamingos stand on one leg to conserve energy? Did you know that? Me neither. But ever since I found out, life has been fucking amazing.”

This solo is the result of the collaboration between Laura Alcalà Freudenthal, independent artist, and Irene Vicente Salas, director and playwright, who connect through artistic admiration and a shared creative desire. Inspired by shared experiences and everyday spirituality, they question why they are here, what they wanted to be, and talk about chakras, frustrations, and contradictions, like buying essential oils online.

The piece will be accompanied by a collaborative action by Laura Alcalà: Danceoke. An activity to dance by mimicking a screen, talk about millennial woes addressed in POP, and drown those sorrows with lots of music.

POP + Danceoke is part of the cycle Coreografies de l'enginy of the Teatre Aquitània within Dansa Metropolitana 2025.
