Skatepark
A skatepark onstage: twelve skaters and dancers present this new piece by the Danish choreographer Mette Ingvartsen. More than a show of amazing feats, Skatepark is about the emergence of a community, defined by the persistence and hard, constant work of individuals who experiment, fall and reach the limits of the impossible, alone but together. In each city where the show is performed, local skaters are chosen as a way of connecting with the local residents and reaching new communities that seldom go to the theatre.
Mette Ingvartsen is a Danish choreographer and dancer who studied in Amsterdam and Brussels. The hybrid nature of her work merges dance with other disciplines such as the visual arts, technology and language. Ingvartsen created her company in 2003, and since then her pieces have been performed all over Europe and in the United States, Canada, Australia and Asia. The Mercat de les Flors put on a series of her pieces in January 2023.
