Traces
Wim Vandekeybus takes his inspiration from nature in the Carpathian Mountains, the last natural bastion in the old continent, to speak of the tension between a time that has stopped and a time that advances directly, rashly, out of control.
A piece inspired by nature in the Carpathian Mountains, in Romania, the last natural bastion in our old continent. Traces speaks of the tension between a time that has stopped and a time that advances directly, rashly, out of control. A time of the animal world that contrasts with the time of the human world. Vandekeybus seeks the “inner story”, the story that unfolds beyond language and which can only be told through the drive of dance and music.
Wim Vandekeybus is a choreographer, dancer, film-maker and photographer. In the mid 1980s he founded the dance company ÚLTIMA VEZ, which made its debut very successfully, and with his second show, Les porteuses de mauvaises nouvelles (1989), he won a Bessie. In recent years, he has presented his work all over the world, with a language of movement in which he juxtaposes intuition, impulse and instinct with energy, risk and danger. Vandekeybus has strong ties to Barcelona. Since the 1980s, he has presented the majority of his creations here. After a period of absence, he returns to the city with Traces.
The show is complemented with the activities One hour before Traces, by ÚLTIMA VEZ/ WIM VANDERKEYBUS, on 26 March at 7 pm and Discussion with WIM VANDERKEYBUS after the function Traces, on 26 March after the show.
Show scheduled by the Mercat de les Flors.
