UPPER Vol. I

A DJ, a sound system and three goddesses of dance move on a podium and invite the mortals to share the dance floor with them. This is a site-specific proposal that takes aerobics classes as its model, with all the tics and the clichés of this activity. The audience can join in and be the protagonist of a choreography that gradually turns into a great party, inviting you to give your movements the maximum freedom. A show premiered in April 2021 at the Sismògraf Festival and which could also be seen at La Mercè in Barcelona last year.

Sebastián García Ferro is a choreographer, dancer, performer and composer and he has directed his own company since 2000. He has obtained residencies and commissions for choreographies in more than 15 countries in Europe. He has won prizes on several occasions, including the "Tot Dansa" Prize of the Mercat de Les Flors or First Prize at the Choreography Festival in Maspalomas. He collaborates with the National Contemporary Dance Company of Argentina or the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona. He is the artistic director of the Barcelona International Dance Exchange (BIDE), an associate choreographer at the Centre de Creació de La Caldera Les Corts and a collaborating artist at the Auditori de Barcelona.
