WORKSHOP: Pràctiques Flamenques en Cos i Arrel
Sold out
The aim of Pràctiques Flamenques en Cos i Arrel is to revise and play with the codes of Spanish dance, flamenco and other folk dances, accompanied by a musician specializing in a specific culture, tradition and musical genre.
The workshop focuses on Galician tradition from the flamenco-influenced body with Andrea Jiménez, and with musical accompaniment by the Galician percussionist and composer Mario G. Cortizo. It is an idea for playing with the footprint, from traditional Iberian rhythmic patterns, constructing the work of the hips and ‘braceos’ (gesturing with the arms) through popular songs, establishing a bridge between bulerías and the xota in order to explore every individual’s flamenco DNA.
Ancorae is a performing and pedagogical project directed by Andrea Jiménez, a space of praxis and research revolving around the pedagogy of danced gesture and sound. The pedagogical projects developed by the performer are focused specifically on Spanish dance, flamenco and other folk dances and types of music, generating a workspace in the contemporary classroom (as it is translated in the contemporary scene and vice versa), in this way shaping a more holistic and integrated treatment of dance/s.
