Can Deu is in plaça de la Concòrdia, the centre of the modern Les Corts district and of the first new district of Les Corts (1845) which transformed the vineyards of “Mas Vinyals” donated by the Closas family into “Les Corts Noves”.

Can Deu is a Modernista building that for decades was the residence of the Deu family. On 17 January 1984 it was purchased by Barcelona City Council in order to turn it into a civic centre for the district. The “new” Can Deu was officially opened on 6 December 1986 by the architect Judit Masana, together with the art historian Teresa Navas.
