La Caldera is a collective project run by a group of artists that originated in 1995 in the Vila de Gràcia in Barcelona. One of the first of its kind in Catalonia and Spain as a whole, it has been a centre for dance creation and the performing arts for 20 years.
The new La Caldera Les Corts project has come into being, drawing on the spirit and experience of the original La Caldera, and has joined the public network of art factories promoted by Barcelona City Council in 2015.
This new La Caldera aims to define itself by seeking innovative forms of production and operational approaches. It intends to be an open space where creators can develop works and pursue their research. Artists in residence are expected to play an active part in the functioning of the centre because the artist is the person who best knows what they need in order to engage in their tasks.
La Caldera also works to make the wide diversity of languages and forms of artistic expression in the contemporary performing arts accessible and understandable to citizens.
