Want to enjoy a perfect fusion between dance and humour? One of the new features at Dansa Metropolitan 2025 is the cycle Coreografies de l’enginy at the Teatre Aquitània. The cycle is designed to connect with an audience that loves theatre but is looking for new experiences and a different way to enjoy dance from a fresher and more playful perspective.

Held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the festival, the project combines the power and expressiveness of dance with spontaneity and good humour, with shows that tell stories, spark connections, and engage the audience from the very first moment.

The first show in the choreography cycle is POP by LaSúbita (Laura Alcalà Freudenthal and Irene Vicente Salas), on Tuesday, 18 March. POP is a millennial portrait presented as a dance monologue that explores stories of love and passion that lead to self-destruction. The piece will be accompanied by a collaborative action by Laura Alcalà: Danceoke. This is an activity to dance by copying a screen, to talk about the millennial hardships addressed in POP and to drown our sorrows with plenty of music.

The following show in the cycle at the Teatre Aquitània on Wednesday, 19 March, will be Campament Alzines by Sònia Gómez, a communal co-creation project which comes as a continuation of the show Calidoscòpica. This project is aimed at collectives who live with temporary or chronic mental health illnesses.

The third and final piece in Coreografies de l’enginy will be Noche Cañón, by the Societat Doctor Alonso. The audience at the Teatre Aquitània will experience the search for a new way of working within the comedy monologue genre on 26 March. This work interacts directly with the audience, shifting the typical boundaries of humour.

We look forward to seeing you at the Teatre Aquitània on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the eighth edition of Dansa Metropolitana!
